The Greater York Chamber of Commerce and the City of York presents the 29th SUMMERFEST on Saturday, August 25, 2012 in Historic York, South Carolina 9:00am-5:00pm. Held annually in Historic Downtown York on the fourth Saturday in August, Summerfest, has been recognized at the South Carolina Governor’s Conference on Tourism and Travel as the Most Outstanding Festival of the Year and by the Southeast Tourism Society for its Top 20 Events calendar. A Juried Craft and Food festival featuring only handmade crafts and an array of delicious foods from over 100 craft/art vendors and food vendors will be located in the center of York. Summerfest features several attractions, one of the largest regional classic car shows; musical entertainment located at three stages; Texaco Country Showdown completion, giant scale model airplane fly-in, 4-H petting zoo, inflatable and climbing wall. Splash and Dash! Saluda Shoals Park

This teamwork challenge race combines mountain biking (5 miles), trail running (2.5 miles), and paddling (1 mile). Teams must complete each section of the course together and cross the finish line as a team! Whether you're a veteran or a first time adventure racer, everyone competes on the same playing field, enhancing the camaraderie and sportsmanship. Cool Off! Go Tubing: West Columbia Riverwalk Amphitheatre

Historic Columbia Foundation's Palladium Society has decided that the best way to beat the heat is to take a tubing trip down the river. It will be both relaxing AND cool! Please RSVP to this event to ensure tubes are available. Meet at the West Columbia amphitheater at 12:30 pm for a 1 pm take off time. This event is open to the public. Rental tube prices: $15 for a standard or $20 for a deluxe (has mesh bottom) If you bring your own tube, there is a $10 shuttle bus fee. Visit the Historic Columbia Foundation website for details.
